On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the President’s address to both Houses of Parliament, describing it as a detailed roadmap for progress and good governance. Her address also mentioned some of the major challenges we have to collectively overcome to ensure a qualitative change in the lives of our citizens.

A Message of Unity and Vision

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary echoed these sentiments, stating that the President’s speech conveyed a message of unity and outlined a vision for making India a developed country by 2047. “It’s a very positive message on a special occasion,” he remarked. “The President has laid out a clear vision and path for our nation. Our democratic institutions are robust, and we take pride in and have faith in them.”

Role of the Election Commission

Chaudhary also highlighted the President’s praise for the Election Commission, noting its role in facilitating voter participation and empowering women to choose their representatives.

Government’s Decisions and Budget Plans

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale commented on the President’s address, noting that it covered the government’s decisions and hinted at new schemes to be unveiled in the upcoming Budget. He dismissed opposition criticism, affirming the positive nature of the President’s speech.

Assurance of Major Announcements

Earlier, President Murmu assured the nation that the upcoming Parliament sessions would feature significant economic and social decisions, along with historic measures in the Union Budget. She emphasized that after six decades, the country has a stable government with a complete majority, with people placing their trust in the government for the third time.

A Historic Lok Sabha

The President noted that the 18th Lok Sabha is historic, formed in the early years of the Amrit Kaal, and will witness the 56th year of the adoption of the Constitution. She added that the first budget of this term would showcase the government’s forward-thinking policies and visionary plans.

Economic Growth and Future Prospects

In her address, President Murmu highlighted the government’s efforts to make India the third-largest economy. She credited the resolve to Reform, Perform, and Transform for making India the fastest-growing economy globally. Over the past decade, India has climbed from the 11th to the 5th largest economy, with an average growth rate of 8% from 2021 to 2024.

The President’s address has set the tone for India’s future, with a focus on unity, robust democratic institutions, and a clear vision for economic and social progress.

“Despite a pandemic and conflicts in different parts of the world, India has been able to achieve this growth rate. This became possible due to the reforms and decisions taken in the national interest in the last 10 years. Today, India contributes to 15 percent of global growth. My government is working towards making India the 3rd largest economy in the world,” the president added.
