Despite losing Brendon King early in the second over, Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran went on a rampage. Their aggressive batting took West Indies to 92/1 in the powerplay, marking the highest powerplay score in T20 World Cup history. West Indies’ all-round show, highlighted by Pooran’s batting heroics and the bowlers’ relentless attack, ensured a commanding win in their last group match of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both teams had already secured their spots in the Super Eight stage, but this match determined the top finisher in Group C. Romario Shepherd missed out due to the birth of his second child and will rejoin the squad on Tuesday. Obed McCoy took his place, and Shai Hope replaced Royston Chase. Afghanistan fielded an unchanged lineup.
