IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several states today, August 31, warning of very heavy rainfall. States including Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are all on high alert as intense downpours are expected. Gujarat, already drenched from days of heavy rain, is bracing for even more severe weather, particularly in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, such as Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu. The IMD’s forecast highlights the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated spots in these areas, urging residents to stay prepared.

Yellow Alert Issued for South Gujarat and Karnataka Regions

Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rains in South Gujarat, covering districts such as Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad, as well as Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. In Karnataka, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada. Additionally, Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan districts are warned to expect heavy rain and sustained winds of 35 to 45 kmph. Authorities urge residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

Isolated Very Heavy Rainfall Predicted in Various Regions

The weather department has forecast isolated very heavy rains in several regions: Vidarbha on September 1st and 2nd, Chhattisgarh on August 31st and September 1st, East Madhya Pradesh on September 2nd, Gujarat from September 2nd to 4th, West Madhya Pradesh on September 3rd, and Madhya Maharashtra from September 3rd to 5th. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa from September 1st to 5th, Marathwada from September 1st to 3rd, and Saurashtra and Kutch from September 2nd to 4th. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
