Aadhaar Card Update: Last Day for Free Services is Today, September 14

Today marks the final opportunity to update your Aadhaar card for free! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that Aadhaar cards issued over 10 years ago, with outdated or incorrect details, must be updated by September 14. After today, any changes will incur a fee of ₹50. Since the Aadhaar card is one of India’s most important identification documents, ensuring that the details are accurate is crucial. While updates can be made online, any changes to biometric information will require a visit to your nearest UIDAI center. Though the UIDAI recommends updating Aadhaar details every 10 years, this process is not mandatory—but taking action now will help you avoid additional costs.
How to Update Your Aadhaar Online
Updating your Aadhaar is straightforward and can be done through the UIDAI website. Here’s how:
- Log In: Visit the UIDAI website and log in using your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number.
- Language Selection: Choose your preferred language to proceed.
- Review Details: Click ‘Aadhaar update’ to view your biometric and demographic details.
- Verify Accuracy: If your information is correct, select “I verify that the above details are correct.”
- Make Changes if Needed: If updates are required, select the specific details to change, upload the necessary documents, and submit your request.
Track Your Update Request
After submitting your request, you will receive a 14-digit request tracking number, which allows you to check the progress of your update.
For Older Aadhaar Cards
Suppose your Aadhaar card was issued a long time ago and is linked to an outdated phone number. In that case, you will need to visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment center to make changes, as this update cannot be completed online.
